From the 26th to the 29th of May 2015, PDSA Ghana in collaboration with Buildtrust Ghana Limited organized a GNSS RTK training on Leica GS15 and LGO GNSS post processing software for about 25 participants from the Ministry of Food and Agriculture. The training program was organised at Ellking Hotel in East Legon a suburb of Accra.
The four day program kick started with sessions at the conference room on the first day. From 9:00am to 10:30am a presentation was done on the Leica GS15 and LGO to illustrate its function and usage. This followed with a 15 minute coffee break immediately after which the session resumed and continued until 12:30am when participants had a variety of Ghanaian dishes for lunch. The session resumed with a presentation on the hardware components of the GNSS RTK from 2:45pm to 4:30pm. Participants ended the day with refreshment.
Participants were in high spirit the second day as they became eager to learn more about GPS. Half of the day was spent in the conference room and the remaining half on the field. Participants under the guidance of expertise practiced how to obtain the coordinate of a point using GPS. This same schedule was repeated the third day as there were more things to discover. Participants asked questions at the end of each session to clear any form of doubt.
The final day was characterized by a practical task. Each participant joined one of four groups. Each group was expected to use their knowledge of the instruments acquired from the previous lessons to execute a task. This task entailed picking points and staking out among others. There was an evaluation at the end of program in the form of a questionnaire.
